Klipsch DMX-5.1

Does anyone know how to obtain this sweet speakersystem in Europe for a decent price?

At newegg.com it costs 207 euros (240$). The cheapest European price I can find is 500 euros... that's 150% more expensive!!

The Senile Doctor 1st November 2003 20:16

they sure look extremely nice!!
if they'd make this wireless, I'd pay anything
can you imagine all the wiring?

RichBa5tard 1st November 2003 20:25

I think it will be a long time before we see high quality wireless speakers that run on batteries. :)

I found a US shop that only asks 200 euro and ships international. Only problem: UPS charges 240 euro's for delivery. :D

The Senile Doctor 1st November 2003 20:27

+ don't forget...
two weeks after you get a nice little extra bill from the importservice, just got an extra 25 euro bill from fedex for my whitewaterblock...

RichBa5tard 1st November 2003 20:32

Indeed, total sum would be:
- 200 euro's for the speakers
- 30 euro's international wire transfer
- 50 euro's importtax
- 240 euro's UPS
= :(

The Senile Doctor 1st November 2003 21:02

520 euro's is too much

Sarcastro 1st November 2003 22:34

I always thought that Klipsch was a german brand.

The Senile Doctor 2nd November 2003 07:34

apparently they'rev quite loud too :)

AchMalAch 6th November 2003 15:45

So there is someone else searching for these beaties too.:o
at www.aed.be they distribute the Klipsch brand (as shown on www.klipsch.com ). I also asked them when these pieces of art would come available, and the answer was december. The price is still unknown...

The Senile Doctor 6th November 2003 15:57

please do keep us informed when you know just how much they cost!

RichBa5tard 6th November 2003 16:01

I know. The owner of aed.be was a good friend, but he died a few months back from cancer. :( He was still pretty young... sad story.

We used to get great prices (their list prices are high, but they have to because it has to be higher than the shops they distribute to), but I don't want to ask favours just after his dad died.

TerAngreal 6th November 2003 16:50

sorry to hear richb ...

always the same deal with klipsch : mighty fine sets they produce, but incredibly hard to get a hold of in belgium - for a decent price that is ... if the price was right, i'd buy me one of the above immediately

couldn't care less about the wires, i'd fix the satellites to my walls anyway so i would do the same thing with cabling

sound is much more importanto then looks :)

The Senile Doctor 6th November 2003 18:28

we can buy 6 sets then :)

An idea for an IA, maybe we can get a discount then.;)

The Senile Doctor 6th November 2003 19:20

richyB, calantak, achmalach, terangreal, who wants these for newyear?
I'm feeling like a gigantic speaker give-away :^D

jmke 6th November 2003 19:25

€200 is fair, sign me in.

Da_BoKa 6th November 2003 20:45

i'm looking for one too, so i'll search for some reviews and if the price is right you can sign me in

greetz

RichBa5tard 6th November 2003 20:52

I'll ask him as soon as they arrive in december, but 200 euro sounds very unrealistic.

Da_BoKa 6th November 2003 21:01

count me in if the prise is reasonable

maybe buying outside belgium ( germany, the netherlands,... ) and then someone can drive to get the speakers and distributes them to everybody ( if it ain't to far )

with the "sound over looks" statement i was meaning the cabling, since calantak asked whether they were available as a wireless set or not ...

obviously, this design easily tops every single set creative has ever made, and even surpasses Logitech's Z-680 design, which is quite nice i'd say ...

Da_BoKa 6th November 2003 22:00

i think that the only thing thta will not be quite handy is the remote control, when you are gaming you have to find the volumebutton with your eyes closed, and here that isn't quite that

greetz

AchMalAch 6th November 2003 22:34

I hope it won't be to expensive.
I saw a digital decoder on the klipsch webshop, and it costs about $170. At AED it costs €200. So I expect the set to be about €75 more expensive then in the US. Not that big a problem huh?
...now saving some money...

The Senile Doctor 7th November 2003 10:45

if it's only 250-275, it's perfectly doable

jmke 7th November 2003 11:41

€200 is my limit, if it will be more , count me out :)

The Senile Doctor 7th November 2003 11:51

it will NEVER be below 200

jmke 7th November 2003 12:03

good, so it better be 200 then :p

AchMalAch 7th November 2003 13:11

It costs $299.99 at the Klipsch online store, so it 'll be like 350 or so here in Belgium i'm afraid. (still a doable price compared to the Magaworks from Creative...)

jmke 7th November 2003 13:15

yes, I'm sure the price is competitive, but for me personally I don't need an all round set, got a great hi-fi hooked up to my PC.

if by some miracle the price would be ~€200 .. I'd consider changing.

The Senile Doctor 7th November 2003 14:25

weird person =:)

jmke 7th November 2003 14:41

how's that?
upgrading a good hifi to a surround set which costs more then the hifi to begin with is insane in my humble opinion :)

that hifi's bass has specs @ 300watt and will blow most 5.1 sets away. but it is less portable :)

piotke 7th November 2003 14:52

but a sound set shouldn't be portable so ....

jmke 7th November 2003 15:30

re-read that last phrase please.. I'm referring to the Hi-fi...

loudness : hifi will overpower klipsh
quality : you'll want to burn your hifi set and dance around in the mess you made ...

overpower klipsh ?
i ""read"" somewhere that the output can give a good 108dB
thats like a live concert in your room

jmke 7th November 2003 17:37

I wrote "most 5.1 sets".

The Senile Doctor 7th November 2003 18:21

that's not what I meant.

I think it was weird to expect 200 euro for sth rated @ 299 :)

jmke 7th November 2003 18:46

I can believe in Santa Claus can't I? ;)

really? Have someone for your roof already?? Send me the plans and I'll make you a price you can't resist ;)

I could use such a speaker set, just to have something to compare the creative 7.1 with... but 200 euro, nah.
