IT specialists are now very interested in running several virtual systems on a single physical machine, not only because it makes the IT infrastructure more flexible, but also because virtualization actually saves money. So why hadn't OS virtualization been so popular before? Let's give a recap of the main problems that stood in the way of this technology.

I can see this being applied to specialized business applications. It is much easier to get after large enterprises on license violation than individual users. Training and development are under better control for evaluation and improvment. Paying for virtualization feature from Intel CPU is a waste of money for 99.99% users.
