Default Intel readies Shelton 08 platform for 2008

Intel is set to launch its low cost, energy efficient Shelton '08 platform for under $100 sometime next year. The new platform is intended for low end desktop PCs aimed at emerging markets, but apart from desktops, Intel plans to use it in sub $300 notebooks in late 2008.

The platform consists of a 45nm Diamondville CPU and with Intel's 945GC or SiS 671 chipsets, and it supports Microsoft Vista Basic.
