Default Intel to kill of twenty one 45nm CPUs

As Intel gets close to releasing its new Sandy Bridge processor it has decided that it will be the “night of the Long Knives” for more than 21 45nm processors.

Intel already issued product discontinuance notice for its Core i7-975X earlier this quarter with end of lifecycle which will take place in the first quarter of 2011. The Core i5-750 will go in the third quarter. As for 45nm quad-core products, four processors including Core 2 Quad Q9650 and five more processors including Core 2 Quad Q9300, 9505 and Q8400 will receive PDN the chop in the third quarter.
