Intel got the engineers, didn't need Nvidia or ATI

Our sources within Intel said that AMD jumped the guns with the acquisition of ATI and that at the end it could have done the same job just by getting the engineers.

Intel acquired many ATI guys and almost the whole team from 3Dlabs and this is how it made Larrabee.

That has nothing to do with me; what matters to me is that Nvda is trading at ~$36 and Intel at ~$22. :(

It is NOT soley based on how well a small amount of people who like the product, or how popular the product .... it is the return of investment or profit the company is making plus future outlook.

Intel always makes money; but they did not increase the bottom line over previous year predicted by Wallstreet guru hence stock value remain relatively low in the past 5 years.

AMD did good when Dual core arrived 18 months ago; stock value appreciated to >$40. Then, they spent their money for future capital investment to maintain and increase bottom line into buying ATI.

If you look at money spent on new PC gears in the last 6 years; money spent on hightech products serves one purpose "large" depreciation. It is because more than 50% of your money should go into R/D so that better products can be produced in the following years. Apple is a good example.

Go buy Apple stock; they still have room to grow higher.:) Stock market is a double edged sword, when you win you could lose.

Intel does not have to lower pricing at this point; they merely want to make sure they could gain SOM. They are trading off lower margin to regain share of market lost to AMD in previous 12 months.
