4 real cores > 2real + 2ht cores, and AMD is cheaper.

do check out the gaming benchies, which are in favor of raw CPU power of the Core i3, but still, the AMD is clocked 300Mhz lower and can keep up :)

I have to admit, Athlon II X4 really is quite a bargain and won't be outdated when Core i3 is released
