Intel claims to have high end video card by 2009 Up to 16x speedier than current performance champ from the NVIDIA the G80, quite a bold claim don't you think? "Their first flagship product for games and graphics intensive applications is likely to happen in late 2008-09 timeframe and the GPU is based on multi-core architecture. We heard there could be as many as 16 graphics cores packed into a single die. The performance? How about 16x performance of any fastest graphics card out there now [referring to G80] as claimed. http://www.vr-zone.com/?i=4605 |
You gotta be kidding me... ...then again, they were pretty much right with their 40% performance claims with Conroe... hmm. I think we'd need to double the PCIe x16 slot's bandwidth (again) to use something with that power, no? :-p G90 and R700 oughta be double the current generation, but if they are to be believed that'd still make Intel's GPU 8x faster, or did I get that wrong? I bet Intel will have the best drivers of them all, regardless... ;-) |
2009 is far away and multicore isn't that complicated to get fast, if you look at how good the quadcores work that are basically just 4 singlecores glued together. I assume that they want to make an advance in the medium segment with onboard graphics and need to overcome the bad image of intel extreme graphics. |
16x, that would be 4x faster then NVIDIA and ATI cards at that time (assuming we are 2 generations further in 2009). Unbelievable, just like their 10GHz CPU... |
