Impressive, but I don't think it's reasonable to change my TrueControl for that baby...

Btw, can we see the performance of all tested PSU's on one page? So we can compare stability and power of all tested PSU's... Some kind of database...

jmke 28th July 2004 03:05

that would require one never changing test platform to be used, and all PSU's need to be tested on that same PC, however not all of those PSU's are in [M]-Europe's possession :)

Piotke has a 14-way PSU roundup coming up vewwy soon

Well, if you don't have a TrueControl anymore, I've got mine... (But that means I'd be with the tester to look after my baby :D )

What a power supply should be; I'm sure the pricing here would be lower. And, I am not surprised to see this PSU to be packaged with CM top chassis in the near future.

Hmmmmm, is Lian-Li coming up with it's own PSU???

jmke 28th July 2004 08:44

I still have the TrueControl, but I was wondering how I could test those PSU head 2 head and come up with a "winner".

Both PSU's will have no trouble powering very "loaded" systems, so how do you determine which one is best?

Sidney 28th July 2004 09:03

The question remains; long term reliability - for a newcomer in PSU, CM has put together the right stuffs (although I like to see a digial readout wattage meter over the analog).

At the end the customers will be the judge; value/performance ratio.;)

jmke 28th July 2004 10:20

yep a digital readout would have been more accurate for taking read-outs, but less "cool" looking.

this PSU will be put to test on various test configurations, so I can test durability and reliability, but it will take some time :)

until now a GlobalWin 520W psu has been powering 90% of the test setups without hickups

Just see how much you can drain till they become unstable...

I'll need more powerhungry hardware to achieve that, I have some SCSI disks I could use, or if I can get my hands on 5 more SATA drives... :)

Xploited Titan 28th July 2004 14:50

Just take big resistance :o :^D

I'll soon have a dual Volari V8, needs a lo of juice :)

jmke 28th July 2004 16:48

more then 6800Ultra?

wutske 28th July 2004 16:58

Hook up a 226W pelt, should have ~19A@12V

Watcha gonna do with a Volari? need some extra fans in your case? :^D

I had a 172Watt pelt, tried to aircool it, this was the result, sorry for the dutch, it was during a test a while back...

Quote:

setup

--SP94--
-coldplate-
-172watt pelt-
-coldplate-
--P4 2.4C--

Booten in BIOS. Na 15seconden temp van CPU is 16°C en blijft dalen (room temp is 22°C)

maar er komt HETE lucht uit PSU.. en een hete geur van metaal/plastiek dat niet meer meekan komt er vrij.

Powered down the system.

ga een dedicated PSU moeten gebruiken voor pelt vrees ik, + ga ik die waterchill met die pelt combineren.. de SP-94 was heet na die 15seconden...

172watt + 120watt van CPU = a lot

wutske 28th July 2004 19:01

Maybe 226 is a bit too much :D . But an 80 watter can easely run on the second 12V rail. :D

wutske 28th July 2004 19:03

If the first rail can handle all the rest ;) .
