![]() | The History Of The Computer Unlike most devices, the computer is one of the few inventions that does not have one specific inventor. Throughout the development of the computer, many people have added their creations to the list required to make a computer work. Some of the inventions have been different types of computers, and some of them were parts required to allow computers to be developed further. Direct link: http://www.thetechzone.com/?m=show&id=201

| ![]() The first computer I EVER used was a TRS-80 II, a whopping 16K of RAM (32K was several hundred bucks and my brother could only afford the 16K, floppy drives, and printer). The first "beast" I used that was my own was a Vic-20 that I got on my own, new, with a tape drive, and a few game cartridges, and a nice, thick book of BASIC programs... just waiting for me to just type them in, run them, crunch as necessary for size (3.2K of memory wasn't much) and save them to tape drive... oh, the days... not to mention, back then, Internet (or what passed for it to be exact) was $2.49 an HOUR... Sorry for sounding like a grandpa, I just turned 40 and I guess I'm feeling old as hell... |
