Half Life 2 and CPU scaling

We are eager to test a wide range of MHz with game, and we decided to outfit our nForce 4 Ultra demo board with the fastest components for playing possible. That would be the Athlon 64 FX55, the ATI Radeon X800 XT, and 1GB of OCZ low latency DDR400 memory. Armed with that configuration we clocked the FX55 from 1GHz up to 2.7GHz in 100MHz increments. While the 1.4GHz Opteron is the slowest speed for AMD64 CPUs we decided to go as low as the motherboard would allow. This should give you a pretty good look at performance whether you have an Opteron, Athlon 64, or Athlon 64 FX as we have found cache size doesn't have a huge impact on performance. We ran the game at 640X480, 800X600, 1024X768, and 1280X1024.
