Default Google generation is braindead

The inventor of the wind-up radio, David Baylis, has claimed that the internet, and Google specifically, is making a new generation of children 'brain-dead'.

In a classic "kids of today" rant, Baylis, 75, said that children were not learning practical skills and will be unable to make anything with their hands as a result.

According to Techradar, he said children are becoming too reliant on instant Google searches and he is worried about the next generation of inventors in the UK.

Baylis warned that kids have to be taught hands-on, and not to become mobile phone or computer dependent.

Kids are dependent on Google searches. A lot of them will become fairly brain-dead if they become so dependent on the internet, because they will not be able to do things in the old-fashioned way, he said.

Baylis made a plea for Meccano to go back to schools, citing them as important in his development as a kid.

Of course, Baylis did not mention gear like the Raspberry Pi which is hoped will do rather well at training a new generation of engineers.
