Icon17 Geforce 9500 GT vs 8600 GT Benchmarks

First benchmarks numbers available for the upcoming entry level NVIDIA Geforce card. The direct competitor of their previous 8600 GT mid-range card. With aggressive pricing from ATI the 9500 GT has become entry level and the upcoming 9800 GT will be mid-range.

Manufacturer at 65nm like the 9600 GT the 9500 GT will make for a low power usage solution, ideal for your HTPC? Speed wise the core of the 9500 GT is running at 650Mhz but it's crippled by a 128-bit bus compared to 256-bit with the 9600 GT. The card is PCIe 2.0 compliant and can be equipped with DDR2 or DDR3.

The 9500 GT doesn't look much different compared to the 8600 GT:

When downclocking 9500 GT near to 8600 GT speeds we can get a clear idea of performance difference:

3DMark06 shows 16% increase in performance at almost same clock speeds...

Real world games difference is noticeably larger, between 17~25% higher FPS!
