Well, the GTX 260 doesn't offer a bad performance/price ratio, but there are many better choices

How noisy will it be though?

To be fair I coudn't care less for single slot cooler.
All good mobos have a design to accomodate dual slots and it also keeps graphics cards furher apart, which is more desirable from a thermal point of view.

They might be good for Multi GPU folders where the double slot cards are often very close together.
