| Future of computing includes more laptops than desktops Although overall PC shipments rose by 9.3 percent during 2006, desktops only accounted for less than two percent growth over shipments made in 2005. Portables, on the other hand, saw 26.3 year-over-year growth during that time. IDC expects that desktop shipment volume will see a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 3.8 percent between 2006 and 2011, while portable shipments will maintain a CAGR of 16.1 percent over the same time period. http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post...-desktops.html
