Default First SSD with “Power Over eSATA” spotted

At "Embedded Systems 2009" in San Jose Pretec unveiled the first peripheral to implement Power Over eSATA technology. Until now, eSATA peripherals have needed an external power supply via an adaptor for hard drives or via the the USB port. In contrast to the USB 2.0 or Firewire 400/800 ports, the eSATA port cannot supply power. In January 2008, the SATA-IO announced the development of Power Over eSATA for the end of the year.
