| Far Cry Moves To 64 bit A lot of time has passed since the debut of 64 bit games - more than you might think. In fact, the buzz about everything to do with 64 bit gaming first started back in 1996, when Nintendo launched the N64 with a NEC 94 MHz 64 bit (MIPS) processor and a 63 MHz Silicon Graphics Reality co-processor. Games like Super Smash Brothers and Super Mario 64 helped Nintendo sell over 32 million systems. Nine years later, it appears that 64 bit is once again all the rage. And while the 8 MB of RDRAM, NEC processor, and Silicon Graphics RCP in the Nintendo 64 were the best components of their day, they are nothing like what are in today's machines. Modern PCs are much more robust, sporting processors running at speeds past 3 GHz and operating in both 32 bit and 64 bit operating environments. http://www.tomshardware.com/game/20050514/index.html
