litegroup Computer Systems (ECS) gave us the opportunity to visit their United States headquarters in Fremont, California. The primary agenda of ECS Editor’s Day was to give us the opportunity to see not only the new ECS product line, but also some key emerging technologies they are developing. ECS also invited AMD, ATI, Intel, and NVIDIA to give presentations.

The subplot of the visit was a marketing drive to establish the company as the “New ECS,” which underscores the company’s push into the high-end mainstream and enthusiast motherboard market for the first time.

ECS was founded in Taiwan in 1987 and has operations in North America, Europe and the Pacific Rim. The company is also expanding operations to emerging countries such as Brazil and Russia.

Owner of PCChips, ECS recently officially merged PCChips and ECS USA into a single entity earlier this year. ECS also reorganized into two business units: one for motherboards and one for notebooks and systems.

ECS packed this one-day event with plenty of content including the following:
• A facility tour and briefing
• A presentation by ECS
• Presentations by Intel, AMD, ATI, and NVIDIA
