DDR2 Speed Testing - Is that high performance kit worth the added expense?
 

With memory prices near an all-time low, many mainstream consumers, gamers and enthusiasts are purchasing faster memory for their boxes. Surely faster memory will bring lower rendering times, more frames per second and higher benchmark numbers. Unfortunately the results obtained from our testing did not support that conclusion.

Another reason I'm so pleased my D9's (which will do around 1100 with enough vdimm) were sold as a Crucial value PC2-533 kit.

I bumped it, because it's a very useful read:) and can save you some money. We got this PR in our mailbox about an article which tests about the same http://www.realworldbenchmarks.com/a...php?cat=&id=55 but in less detail :)

With FSB1333 C2D we should redo some tests on P35 chipset:)

Oh definitely. P35 offers some major improvements over 975X and 965P. I was darn near lucky to get my Ballistix to 1100MHz on a 965P-DS3, but the P35-DQ6 ran the same kit at 5-5-5-15 @ 1220MHz without a problem. 975X chipset was never even designed for RAM @ 1067MHz. :)

I've asked our high end guys to take a look at it; I'm more of a midrange fella :)
