Is a CPU subzero cooling unit worth the cost?
 

Is the large investement into a CPU subzero cooling worth it? Given the fact that the unit can be easily refilled and the header can be changed to fit different types of old/new/yet to be released CPU sockets.

Subzero cooling increases your CPU speed between 50-100% depending on your system components. You can have next generation CPU speeds NOW with this cooling.

only interesting for overclockers in my humble opinion.

50% gain is also a bit of an overstatement if you compare the gains you can get from el cheapo aircooling or not so cheap but still much cheaper watercooling.

and sure, you can use it again when you upgrade your cpu but you'd have to go through quite a few cpu upgrades (those 1000€ cpu's not kept out of the equation) to justify the price of such a phase change unit.

There is one major incredient that is not mentioned; how may Processors they must try to get the best of the system - 1,2, 3 or more.

And, yes, if I don't like riding motorcycle, flying airplanes, shooting traps, photography, and women, I surely will have a couple of this to kick around.:^D

Priorities change, I don't rule out not owning one.

but from an price/performance standpoint it's really not worth it, it gains about 200-400 mhz on most cpu's for 1000 euros.

It sucks, that's all.... It uses a Peltier element, meaning you need to power that too. Power = heat. Thus, in fact, you'll then have to cool down the heat of the CPU + the heat of the Peltier element.

Isn't worth it's cost thus.

K, Just read the topic again, I was talking about the Subzero unit called 'subzero' :^D

If you're talking about phase-change cooling. Well, it has more factors you need to take account for if you don't wanna kill your computer. Besides, it's very heavy too.

I don't think it's worth the price neither.
