Corsair Memory Shrinks DDR2 Latencies

Corsair Memory, a leading designer and maker of advanced memory modules, said Wednesday it had developed DDR2 memory products with the world’s most aggressive latency settings of CL3 3-3-8.

Corsair’s XMS2 Series 4300C memory modules are rated to operate at 538MHz with CL3 3-3-8 latency settings. These modules have been tested and pre-tuned to deliver optimal performance in the majority of mainboards based on i915- and 925-series based mainboards. The new sticks include Corsair’s Plug’n’Frag technology: they boot up in most platforms at the advanced CL3 3-3-8 latencies with no need for BIOS tweaking.

Earlier this year a number of popular memory brands – Corsair Memory, Crucial Technology, Kingston Memory and OCZ Technology Group have unveiled advanced DDR2 memory modules with shrunk memory latencies and increased core-clocks. Corsair’s and OCZ’s high-speed DDR2 are certified to operate at 667MHz with CL4 4-4-12 latency settings, Crucial’s and Kingston’s product can work at 667MHz with CL4 4-4-10 timings. However, typical PC2-4300 and PC2-4200 memory modules were only rated to typical JEDEC latencies of CL4 4-4-10 or similar settings.

XMS2 Series 4300C memory modules will be available in 512MB sticks and 1GB dual-channel kits. Corsair will also supply XMS2 memory series Pro with lighting LEDs.
