The king of Memory's new field-Corsair HX620W Modular Power Supply Review

Corsair Memory has an established reputation in the computer industry for
producing some of the best memory available and they are expanding their
product offerings to include PC power supplies.

The Corsair HX620W paper carton is not small in volume

In addition to the power supply and modular cables the packing box also
contains a power cord, wire ties and a printed User¡¯s Manual.

The power supply arrived securely packed with large foam block. It seems
that this PSU is very well transporting protected from damage.

Enclose with many cables various in style that bear different kinds of use.

Key Features:
600 watts continuous power output
Triple +12V outputs (up to 54A combined +12V)
Dual Core CPU, nVIDIA SLI and ATI CrossFire Ready

PSU exterior 1
The power supply enclosure is painted matte black add crimson products
stick for good quality feel.

PSU exterior 2
Both of side have product type sticker.

PSU exterior 3
Uses a single 120mm exhaust fan on the bottom for cooling.
The open honeycomb hole on the back allows the exhaust air to exit the
power supply with minimal resistance.

PSU exterior 4
Two PCI Express (6-pin) modular
Five Main power modular

Here are a few pictures showing the layout and components inside the HX620
W power supply.

Use ADDA high-quality fan
The fan speed is automatically controlled by the internal component
temperature (speeds up as the combined load and temperature increases).

Under the general state, only several hundred rotates for the operation of the fan, nearly quiet and silent

MSI new edition controls software DualCoreCent
It is not perhaps as accurate as ammeter that the host computer examines
the voltage by board itself, but the software tools will mainly observe the supply power steady in high power consumptive.

Await the standby state of ten minutes (whether right low picture, update once every 5 second )

3.3V=>3.32 or 3.34
5V=>5.00 or 5.02

Corsair HX620W Modular Power Supply

Strength
1. Ative PFC with high quality feel black baking paint
2. The modular cable design eliminates cable clusters and optimizes the
airflow inside the computer case to help keep the system cool.
3. Exquisite and securely packed, Corsair bag for cable.
4. Industrial grade Japan made capacitor.
5. Under the heavy loading state, the temperature of PSU is about more than
40 degrees
6. PSU offers the steady output even in heavy loading.
7. It is quiet in most condition due to the fan speed is automatically controlled by the internal component temperature.
8. The market price range from 160 to 170 dollars that mark down 10 to 20
than other famous PSU maker at same level product.
9. Backed by a 5-year warranty

Weakness
1. A little noisy at high power levels (Around 1,000 rpm)
2. The material of Cable can be improved.

Though Corsair just began to get into PSU field, the new products put out
blockbusting and not defeated by other old brand PSU factories high end
product. It also achieves good result at brand, price, feature, warranty, quiet
and thermal.

Windwithme believes the product without perfection in the world, but after
experiencing CorsairHX620W ,It¡¯s a nearly perfect product, No doubt , there
is one more choice for user in the high end PSU market.

The Corsair PSU has been very well received, boasting a competitive price for a powerfull PSU which can handle it's advertised 620W load without signs of instability, efficiency is high 79~81% and the included 120mm fan doesn't ramp up to high noise levels either.

With OCZ, Mushkin and now Corsair having their own PSU products, how long do we have to wait before we see ohter companies jumping on the "me too" band-wagon?

as long as quality stays high and prices down, I can but applaud these new product launches

I like the flat cables

goingpostale1 8th August 2006 19:13

Indeed the flat cables seem nice, but who makes the actual internal power supply? Is it Topower the same company OCZ and Mushkin uses? Nice, definatly like 5 year warranty too.

they probably use the same company that makes the PSU's for Seasonic, look at the Seasonic M12, it has the same internals, except a quieter fan and fan controller?

interesting, as Seasonic has build a good reputation thanks to great stability and balance between performance/silence, if the Corsair's units are based on the same design, that's good news:)

Tarantula 9th August 2006 09:47

idd, maybe a fan swap afterwards :)

if it's priced lower that is ;)

or if the 60/40?mm fan of the seasonic is too noisy.

and ofcourse, availability.
