Default BIOSTAR T-Power I45 Motherboard Review

Overclocking with the Biostar T-Power I45 was an easy task for the most part. Automatic settings generally worked well and the BIOS was easy to navigate and to understand which made finding the right settings for adjustment a breeze. Using my Corsair Nautilus and Swiftech Apogee GT waterblock I kept the CPU nice and cool for the overclocking tests. I conducted all tests on an open test bench using the Cooler Harbor bundle Biostar included in the box which consists of a large but thin heat sink and a thermal interface material. Mounted to the heat sink is a noisy fan (as I mentioned earlier.)

On the front of the box it shows a CPU-Z screenshot with some of the details obscured by a statement concerning a 600MHz overclock. 600MHz FSB would have been outstanding and that was the goal I set out to achieve. Oddly enough we've had some issues with overclocking the newer 45nm Core 2 Duo processors on more recent boards so we busted out the old E6300 and put it to the test on the T-Power I45. The E6300's we've got can all hit 3.5GHz or so with relative ease and they are no stranger to 500MHz+ FSB speeds so they seemed ideally suited to this task.
