| Big Content gets to Gabon government Kim Dotcom is fuming after the government of Gabon refused to let him set up a Megaupload sequel in its country. Gabon's government has suspended the domain www.me.ga on the orders of its communication minister Blaise Louembe. Louembe told the world that he had instructed his departments to immediately suspend the site www.me.ga in a bid to "protect intellectual property rights" and "fight cyber crime effectively". According to the National Business Review, he said that Gabon could not serve as a platform or screen for committing acts aimed at violating copyrights, nor be used by unscrupulous people. This stand is a little odd given that the case against Megaupload is faltering and that Dotcom's new business has not even committed anything like a crime yet. Indeed Dotcom has not even formally acquired the me.ga domain name yet. It is owned by someone in France. Needless to say Dotcom was furious and quick to see Big Content as being involved in a plot. Dotcom hinted that the Gabon government was in the pocket of Big Content and had been lent on by the US government. He tweeted: "Don't worry. We have an alternative domain. This just demonstrates the bad faith witch hunt the US government is on." http://news.techeye.net/internet/big...bon-government |
