There are a ton of options to consider when purchasing a coolant additive. Perhaps some of the most important are to have a non-conductive and non-corrosive supplement to your water cooling system. Also we found that you should never believe what all that marketing hub-bub tells you. Even our best contender (Danger Dens mct-40) only dropped our temperatures between 2 and 4 degrees of our stock distilled water temps. Two degrees is negligible and when you consider in margin of error it’s even more negligible.

One thing that we really want to stress is that UV dye in water cooling setups is a very powerful tool. Not only does it look cool but functionally it allows you to monitor your system for leaks and spills. If we could recommend just one product at the end our testing it would no-doubt be Danger Den’s very own mct product line. If you have the extra money Fluid XP+ might interest you and furthermore Thermaltake’s Bigwater is a good option if you just need something that cools and glows obnoxiously.

The story reminds me of gasoline additives commercial. Dye has the functional purpose as in gasoline.

Red dye is used in the U.S. to distinguish gasoline from kerosene and diesel fuel.
