Default Battle of the Tower Coolers: Noctua, Thermalright, Asus and Prolimatech

I begin this article using a euphemism. The waters are quiet a long time in the field of cooling the air and new stuff on the market have not managed to impose a well-known performers definitely before. In previous studies among others talked about the fact that limits have been reached by air cooling due to small differences between coolerele top, we've developed a methodology specifically designed to differentiate as well coolerele to have a clear hierarchy after which user can make an informed choice about the cause, but lately missing "salt and pepper", meaning those coolers that amaze us with their performance, which shook an area so quiet lately.

If before I had doubts about the performance or efficiency of this architecture (doubts caused by poor performance of IFX-14 on the 775 platform, but also the lack of performance of this architecture coolers on the market), they all disappeared along with testing of NH D 14. I noticed a very good performance in extreme categories, very difficult to achieve. It is the first time in the history of "modern" when a cooler is the best and at low rpm / fanless and extreme TDP / CFM. A huge contribution to the quality and experience Noctua had but very good behavior of the IFX-14 Intel Core i7 platform reinforces the conclusion that the twin tower architecture is among the best solutions in creating a very efficient cooler. Remarks and good behavior in the housing, in terms of a very low airflow, provided that the cooler to be optimized to a certain extent and for low air flow. Using the three fans is another strong point of this architecture, shown in tests done in practice.

Default

This CPU cooler test easily took up 1000hrs at the least, more than 10 fan configs per heatsink, all tested in/outside a case, and using S775 and S1366
