Availability check: Intel's 45nm Core 2 Duo processors
 

45nm Core 2 Duos did in fact hit stores in January as promised, and we even featured the E8400 model in our deal post for January 25. However, the situation has deteriorated since then. 45nm Core 2 Duos seem to be in extremely short supply everywhere, with Newegg's lone E8400 model perpetually out of stock. Such tight availability is cause for concern a whole three months after the official launch, so we set out to check online retailers to see how many of them actually had any 45nm Core 2 Duos in stock—and at what price.

I paid my E8200 €140 few weeks ago, now the same shops has increased the price by ~€20

Intel should have priced them a lot higher to begin with, to maximise profits.

don't know why they priced them so close to Conroe, I was choosing between E6550 and E8300, went for the latter,

Hehe, had posted this. :) Intel priced them close because it is cheaper for them to make 45nm chips than 65nm ones. Is in their best interest to get people to migrate, or upgrade from their current 65nm chips when they otherwise wouldn't of.

So says the Intel shareholder. :-p

not only that, it would keep OEMs from sucking all the supply up
