Default ATI Slashes Factory Warranty Period

First, the hard drive manufacturers started cutting their warranties from 3 years down to one and now it appears that ATI is doing the same thing for its video cards:

A sharp eyed reader over at extreme overclocking forums noted that ATi has slashed its warranty period for all products from as much as 5 years to 1, effective from August 31st 2005. This means if you purchased your (video)card before August 31st you will still retain the standard 3 year warranty that was present on the top level cards.

WD raises the warranty period from 1 to 5 years effective June 2005

The world does turn around; as the cycle ends, a new one begins

Let's hope nVidia is not lengthening the warranty period
