Launch prices are around €600

better to buy 2x 5870 atm (if you're in this kind of league )

2x5870 is more expensive;
2x5850 is about this price;
HD5890 performance falls between the two
yet is priced lower than 2x5870.

€600 is "too low"
previous top end VGAs were launched at €700+.
just to put things in perspective.

also, no point in buying HD5890 if you don't have 30" LCD... ideal setup: 3x24" in portrait mode, only have to find screens without bezel
for 3x30" I would resort to 2x5970

Beamers don't have bezels. Would 4x in portrait work? 4320x1920 is a ratio of 2.25, pretty close to Cinemascope and close to 4k.

Currently no more than 3 screens supported "I think", special edition with >3 is expected and seen in action, but no streetdate on that one

Yeah, the "5870 Eyefinity^6", as reported here recently:

ATI's Radeon HD 5870 Eyefinity 6 Edition Tested and the back is shown on page 4 and onward.

Running a DP-to-DVI converter has it's own issues though, as HardOCP's Kyle experienced "live" in this video, from about the 23 minutes mark.
