Just posted it here for people having the same problem.

This is for the 8500DV AIW though, possibly people with the 9800 AIW might have the same problem.

Been searching for a month or two how to capture cam-movies via firewire. Controlling the cam worked flawlessly, only the capturing didn't.

It didn't work anymore after i did a clean install on a Abit NF7. Tried almost everything (different directx versions, different drivers, different order of installation, other wdm-drivers, other firewire drivers, ...), my last resort was to install XP (instead of my beloved W2K).

Finally found this at ZiffDavis:

Here we hit another snag with our Via KT-266A-based Epox 8KHA+ testbed motherboard. We were able to have our Sony DVR-PC5 digital camcorder be recognized by Windows XP, and we could drive the camera's transport controls (play/pause/rewind/etc.), but we could not receive an incoming video or audio stream coming from the camera. Apparently ATI's Agere 1394 PHY/Link chip and the Epox motherboard's BIOS just couldn't get along. To verify that ATI's overlay driver wasn't broken, we installed a second FireWire card that uses TI's PHY/link chip, and it worked swimmingly. We did however have success doing digital captures on the upcoming HP Pavilion that will use the AIW DV.

Just hooked up the cam on the onboard firewire (in stead of the firewire port of the AIW) ... works perfect

Two months searching ... finally success :nana:

Wanneer zou die kaart in België te verkrijgen zijn?

GorenBarry 26th July 2003 23:33

another review of the gfxcard, http://www.bit-tech.net/review/232/
maybe you should check my site 4 news :p

Syco 27th July 2003 15:41

Sorry, now in English. When will this card be available in Belgium? I was looking for the 9700 pro AIW, but now I prefer the 9800 Pro AIW.

I have a Radeon 8500 AIW at home.. it has dual monitor support out of the box.. that card is more then 1 year old..

they put comments on their frontpage without thinking? ;)

edit: :puke: mistaken with other card, R8500AIW DV does not have multi-support

RichBa5tard 21st November 2003 17:27

Most AIW cards next to the 8500 aiw have single monitor support fyi. :)

jmke 21st November 2003 17:34

see edit in my post above

Da_BoKa 21st November 2003 18:57

indeed the firewire port on a 8500 has some problems on a nf7-s

there are more people who have problems with that

jmke 22nd November 2003 11:47

firewire port of the breakout box of the 8500 AIW DV works okay on a Asus P4PE system, seems to be an isolated AMD problem? nforce2.. kt266a...
