ATI quietly launches Radeon 5550
 

The ATI DirectX 11 range continues to grow. After the 5450 and the 5570, ATI have launched the Radeon HD 5550 very much on the quiet. This card is based on the same GPU as the 5570 but with much lower performance. The GPU clock has dropped from 650 to 550 MHz and the number of stream processors is down from 400 to 320. The GDDR3-1800 has been replaced with DDR2-800. In the end, you get something quite different from the 5570 with performances likely to be very mediocre at best.
