Default ASUSTeK Accelerates Overclocked RADEON X1800 XT

After quietly revealing the EAX1800 XT TOP on the Chinese market, ASUSTeK Computer announced it for the rest of the world promising even higher clock-speeds than before. The new graphics board may return the crown of the world’s fastest graphics card to ATI’s RADEON X1800 XT visual processing unit which was dethroned by NVIDIA’s GeForce 7800 GTX 512.

“To offer stable operation to go with powerful performance, the EAX1800 XT TOP leveraged the innovative Arctic Cooling technology, bringing efficient heat dissipation to the world of high-quality visual enjoyment. With industry-leading graphics expertise and advanced technology, the EAX1800XT TOP offers a 10% performance enhancement compared to competing solutions,” a statement by ASUS reads.

ASUS EAX1800XT TOP clocks RADEON X1800 XT graphics processor at 700MHz and 512MB of GDDR3 memory at 1600MHz, up from default speeds of 625MHz for the visual processing unit (VPU) and 1500MHz for the memory. The board from ASUSTeK is equipped with reworked cooling system by Arctic Cooling company. Furthermore, to guarantee stable operation, ASUS will equip its ASUS EAX1800XT TOP with external power supply.

In order to further attract attention of gamers, ASUS bundles the “King Kong” game as well as XitePad gamepad, which together valued at close to $100.

ATI Technologies’ RADEON X1800 XT 512MB graphics card earlier this year beat nearly all performance records in currently shipping games leaving behind NVIDIA’s flagship GeForce 7800 GTX product. However, NVIDIA Corp. recently managed to update its lineup with the GeForce 7800 GTX 512 that featured very high clock-speeds and increased amount of memory, which helped the company to dethrone ATI’s offering. Currently the GeForce 7800 GTX 512 is the fastest performing gaming solution on the planet.

To date, the RADEON X1800 XT is the highest-end product by ATI Technologies. The graphics processing unit features 16 pixel processors, 8 vertex processor, a brand-new architecture that supports Shader Model 3.0, high dynamic range (HDR) lighting and other innovations. Graphics cards based on the RADEON X1800 XT clock the chip at 625MHz and the memory on 1500MHz
