Default Apple has shot itself in the foot

Battery issues will damage 2018 sales

The Fruity cargo-cult Apple’s moves to throttle the speed of iPhones with old batteries will damage its 2018 sales, according to Barclay’s bank analysts.

Apple has been in damage control mode since a feature caused older models of iPhone to slow down when batteries started to die. The only problem was that it failed to tell users who just thought their phones were getting to old and they needed to upgrade.

Apple offered to replace flagging batteries at a slashed rate to take the pressure off the crisis could backfire Barclay’s warned. The bank feels that once an iPhone user gets a nice new battery in their phone they will discover that the older models are just as good as the new ones and not bother to upgrade.

Barclays analyst Mark Moskowitz says 77 percent of iPhone customers are using iPhone 6, 6 Plus, 6s, 6s Plus, 7, 7 Plus, and SE, which means even a small percentage opting for battery replacement over upgrade could have meaningful impact on iPhone sales.
