why wasn't there any system testing done? did you install a PC in there? no performance numbers? no temperature measurements? it's hard to believe anyone can comment on a case without actually installing hardware in it.

anyway back to:

Something ya didn't mention.. were they smart enough to releize that pumping the hot air from the PSU into a case is not a good idea!?
you are right, it dropped case temps by ~4°C over here

just hoped they would have just listened to the 40mm fan placing, would increase cooling more then those "blowers" which have been proven to be just noisemakers, without actually cooling anything, they have to spin too fast to have any remarkable effect. They are okay on Videocards, but can not move enough CFM to cool a case.

Many servers use 40mm fans with tunnel for many years.

Shall we say; some product reviews are actually commentaries

There is so much more to a case than just temperature, but it was one of the cases weaknesses in the beginning. There seems to be some reluctant cult following with this case. If everyone hated this case so much, why do so many care?

Since you were so quick to point things out, I can't believe you missed this:

I mentioned this in the review, but because of all apparent confusion, I rewrote it to make it even more clear. THIS is the new PSU exhaust fan on the case. It is actually pulling air from UNDER the case and into the PSU. However, it does not get dumped into the case. There are no vents going into the case. The original Overture dumped the hot air right into the case because it sucked the air through the PSU, back into the case because the fan was IN the case. There's your 4 degrees right there

The new swiss cheesing in the back should allow you to put away your dremel and mount those 40mm fans.

It's about 8.25CM's across and with the holes, you should be able to mount your fans with a couple screws each.

Since it seems very important, I'll do my HTPC system ahead of schedule and get you those 2 important numbers you needed. I do appreciate the comments though.

reviewing a case without installing a system inside, is like evaluating a car without driving it

thanks for pointing out the PSU exhaust thing, looks decent!

Here's some progress...

I've posted a new pic of it partially assembled so far. You can see it here:

http://www.futurelooks.com/photopost...rtby/d/way/asc

If you can just visualize with me for a sec, we now know that there is no hot air coming from the front of the case. That means that we only need to worry about CPU, Hard Drives, then Video Card areas of the case. Now, the case fan in the back blows air towards the hard drives, but the blowers suck the air immediately back out of the case. The CPU draws air from the top and the back of the case, and any hot air, is also expelled by the blowers. The blowers, when switched on, had quite a bit of suction inside the air, blowing quite a bit of it out of the case. We will have to see if this will really work. This also means that we probably will not be able to use a fanless solution for the CPU because it looks like it needs it to have some sort of airflow in order for this little current flow thing to work.

The video card has only those slotted rear covers in which to draw air from. This is bad news for the PVR cards and the other expansion cards that might get hot. This will likely mean that we'll have to throw in some sort of slot cooler, but even that really only works in favour of the vid card most of the time. Also, there is no option to mount a fan overhead since the ceiling is so short.

My hypothesis is that yes, the overall temps will be lower. JMKE already found 4 degress difference by reversing the flow of the PSU fan in the original Overture, but at the expense of the expansion cards.

Stay tuned!
