AMD's X2 4800+ Dual Core
 

AMD has certainly been on top of its came with the Athlon64 line and in doing so has beat its rival, Intel, in many benchmarks and industry firsts which have garnered AMD praises everywhere. That said, it’s no surprise to see them pull out the stops and release its dual-core CPU line for the desktop quite a bit earlier than most industry experts predicted – we can, of course, attribute much of that due to Intel’s big dual-core desktop push as of late.

With its recent launch of the X2-series, AMD is doing a seek-and-destroy mission on Intel’s plans to rule the desktop with an infiltration of new dual-core CPUs. The 4800+ is the ring-dinger we’re looking at in this review and it should put Intel on notice – more than ever- that they really need to rethink their designs to catch-up to AMD with regards to cooler-running chips and performance.
