AMD prepares more price cuts

The Athlon 64 X2 4000+, the 4200+ and the X2 4400+ will all have their prices cut. The firm isn't saying by how much yet, however. Yesterday the firm also cut the prices of some of its older, Rev E, Opterons.

With a bit of luck Intel will follow suit and the firms will soon be giving processors away with packets of cornflakes.
AMD needs to do something "They must be losing there shirts by now"

Intel is KILLING them :woot:

If Intel was killing them, AMD wouldn't have regained 4% of the market back last quarter. :)

Intel
Revenue ^$35.7 billion USD (2006)
Net income ^$5 billion USD (2006) Up ;-)

AMD
Revenue $5.649 billion USD (2006)
Net income v$166 million USD (2006) down ;-)

Those figures are from last year, not last quarter. ;-)

That link doesn't mention revenue, but it is where I got my own numbers from. :P

The income thing is their own fault for pulling the rug out from underneath their prices. I never said that Intel wasn't hurting them... AMD is selling plenty of hardware and made up a great deal of lost market share from Q1. Except for Q3 and Q4 of 2006, their market share hasn't ever been this high. I think there was a point where they didn't have to further slash into their gross margins, but they did so anyway.

I would tend to agree with that article, AMD has a good opportunity to really make a comback in both CPU and GPU segments. Only issue is that even if they do take back a record level of the market share and make a tidy profit I think their stock price would still be undervalued and stagnant.
