AMD launches new system validation program

AMD has been on a bit of a roll this past year, with market share gains, new fabrication plants, and a merger with video card maker ATI. Now, AMD hopes to consolidate some of these gains by launching a new program to offer "validated solutions" for system builders.

The program, entitled AMD Validation Solutions (AVS), is intended to provide system builders and OEMs with stable and rigorously tested reference platforms. The first four motherboards to receive the AVS treatment are part of AMD's Commercial Stable Image Platform (CSIP). They use socket AM2 processors such as the Athlon 64 X2 and FX series, and use ATI Radeon Xpress motherboard chipsets. AMD is teaming up with motherboard manufacturers Asus, ECS, and MSI to bring AVS-certified motherboards to market.
