A "healthy" AMD ought to be making about $500 million a quarter, every quarter. That would be enough to let them finance themselves and not feel the need to do everything on the cheap.

By that standard, AMD has been rarely, if ever healthy, but that's what they need to do to become a solid competitor against Intel,
