Gentlemen, start saving now:)

zachig 29th September 2005 05:38

Yay. That's one of a monster CPU!!!

FoRCe 29th September 2005 07:56

nice time to upgrade my p4 2.4 :)

jmke 29th September 2005 08:47

DDRII for AMD it is then...

Jaco 29th September 2005 10:35

DDR2 for AMD :^D

can't wait...

The Senile Doctor 29th September 2005 14:57

I'm curious. It would be a nice upgrade for my by then 2 year old fx-53 @ 2.8 ghz :)

jmke 29th September 2005 15:00

going from 2.8Ghz to 2.667Ghz is not what I call "an upgrade" :p

it's already proven that the A64's does not need a lot more bandwidth to perform better; it's not like AXP or P4 where higher FSB and lower multi gave large performance increases.

The Senile Doctor 29th September 2005 16:05

you break down all my future upgrades!
you save me money and I don't like to save money :)
I'll stick to my cpu until 30 % speed gain irwa.

Sidney 29th September 2005 16:13

Reward yourself with a large LCD screen instead:)

jmke 29th September 2005 17:03

yes, I would agree, some 32" HQ TFT would look better than 200Mhz less CPU power;)

The Senile Doctor 29th September 2005 19:57

yes, but will they work with vista??

easypanic 29th September 2005 20:16

Why not? Vista is still in beta fase?

The Senile Doctor 29th September 2005 20:19

I don't know...
i'd like to buy a big LCD, but all kinds of things concering problems with hdtv on vista kept me holding back.
there's no need to hold back?

jmke 29th September 2005 20:39

vista is not released, not final, not in shops, and most likely, will not be for the next 2-3 years;

Big LCD will work NOW, support in Vista WILL be there, or you'll just stick with XP, :)

Sidney 29th September 2005 21:02

1) A year wait for new MS O/S is norm so that drivers are more readily available.
2) If you are not into 64-bit now, there is no point to wait.
3) You work hard enough and deserve a nice treat; unless you don't think so.
5) HDTV is more or less for married men; and not single gamers.

It's always nice to hear the people in my cycle to spend big bucks.
As you can see I can't even count.:)

The Senile Doctor 30th September 2005 13:40

ok
I'll buy a Hewlett-Packard L2335 - 23" TFT

Good choice as a gaming screen?
how a thread on 5000+ gets us to this :)

jmke 30th September 2005 13:45

yes the HP seems to be a good choice

The Senile Doctor 30th September 2005 15:38

I ordered one!
curious to see what it's like!!
dungeon siegeing on a widescreen :)
(if it even works :) )

jmke 30th September 2005 15:40

a reason to get 7800GTX:)

easypanic 30th September 2005 18:17

Indeed, I don't think your current system wont be able to keep up @ a high res :) ;p

The Senile Doctor 30th September 2005 18:31

sli seems a necessary upgrade path now :p

Sidney 30th September 2005 19:02

Where is Gamer? We need him here:)

The Senile Doctor 1st October 2005 06:55

he is uninterested in unoverclockable screens :)
