Default Alcatel 3V sells in US for $150

18:9, dual cameras and biometric

Alcatel, one of the brands of TCL Communication, launched a rather unique phone with a really attractive price point. The Alcatel 3V has the 18:9 (2:1) near bezel-less design, a custom six inch TCL 2K display, dual camera, fingerprint sensor, Face Key biometric security, all for $149.99.

Alcatel plans 18:9 for all of its 2018 phones and the custom built display is produced in cooperation with China Star Optoelectronics Technology (CSOT), a sister company of TCL Communication under the TCL Group.

The 2K screen comes with 2160x1080 resolution, rather aggressive for the price point. The Alcatel 3V uses a 12-megapixel primary camera paired with a 2-megapixel secondary depth camera with LED flash, which produces greater depth of field and lets customers re-focus shots after they’re taken. This can result in great images using a real-time bokeh effect. The phone comes with 5MP front-facing cameras with LED flash.

The SoC behind the phone is the MediaTek MT8735A, featuring quad Cortex A53nad Mali T720 MP2 GPU, 2GB RAM, Android 8.0, 3000 mAh battery, 16 or 32 GB storage.

The company has a software suit for its intuitive photo editing tools called Social Mode. The Social Square will help reviewing the photo while the other part of the screen shows the camera window. Instant Collage will help to match the best photo while photo booth brings back some nostalgic picture moments at a one photo per second pace.

The phone with the face unlocking and unlocked for GSM networks (AT&T and T-Mobile) will be available in the US in Spectrum Black for $149.99 on Amazon next week, rolling out to Best Buy and Walmart stores in the coming weeks. The phone is available for pre=orders at Amazon.
