AeroCool StreamLiner 140mm and Extreme Turbine 90mm Fans
 
Today we are going to look at two different fans from AeroCool USA, one can be classified as huge the other as a normal sized fan. I have used both of these fans now for over a two week period and I have to say I was very impressed with how well they worked and cooled my system. So without keeping you waiting any further lets get started looking at the AeroCool Streamliner 140mm and Extreme Turbine 90mm Fans

well, size does matter but if they want to impress me they need to send the product sample to a certain review site where it can duke it out with the best in the market from Papst and Coolink

the dead spot is pretty small going by the pictures and it's nonexistant because of the 140 to 120 converter


Also, the dead spot is no longer important because the heatpipes transport the majority of the heat and not the fins.

What evidence do you base this on?

The smaller the dead spot is always the best route heatpipe or not.

If it was bad, then why are we seing an XP-120 working better than the XP90?

because the heatsink is build for 120mm fan, put a 120>92mm fan adapter on XP-90 and use the same fan; performance is worse.

140mm with fan adapter to 120mm is unfortunately not better than normal 120mm. In the review he does not compare noise levels of his CPU fan (120mm) vs the new (140mm) so head to head comparison is hard.

the gain in CFM/RPM is lost due to the \ / sides.

All the matter of thermal dynamics, the larger the surface area the higher the thermal exchange rate at a given air movement environment. Any dead spot will limit the transfer rate; its a matter of robbing Peter to pay Paul. To think dead spot is not important in the use of heatpipe is an invalid statement.

Granted, a large fan will aid case ventilation in both CFM and sound level as it will move more air at lower sound level.
