ABIT Unveils CPU Accelerator Technology on AA8XE series, AA8-DuraMAX and AG8

November 9, 2004 – As the pioneer of overclocking, ABIT has introduced countless features that allow users to get the most out of their systems. From SoftMenu™, the world’s first jumperless BIOS, to OTES™ cooling and OC strips, ABIT hardware is engineered for utmost performance and rock-solid stability. Today, ABIT is proud to introduce another technology to its extensive line up – CPU Accelerator™. With CPU Accelerator, users are able to realize the full potential of their PCs.

How are CPU speeds determined?

The speed or frequency of a CPU is calculated by a simple formula:

Front Side Bus x Multiplier = CPU Frequency

For instance, an Intel Pentium 4 3.4GHz CPU operates at a 200MHz (800Mhz quad-pumped) front side bus:

200Mhz FSB x 17 = 3.4GHz

Traditionally, the multipliers of Intel Pentium 4 CPUs are locked, which means that users are unable to change this value. The only way to overclock the system was to increase front side bus speeds.

What is CPU Accelerator?

CPU Accelerator basically enables users to change the multiplier factor of their CPUs. By altering the CPU multiplier, users can more easily find the optimal operating speed of their systems for massive performance gains. CPU Accelerator allows users to run their 800MHz FSB CPUs at a 1066MHz Front Side Bus. With the additional bandwidth provided by the increased system bus, PC’s equipped with CPU Accelerator deliver next-generation performance with the technology of today. In fact, CPU Accelerator can increase system performance by a whopping 33%!

Where can I find CPU Accelerator?

CPU Accelerator is found exclusively on Intel 915P, 925X, and 925XE-based ABIT motherboards. Current models include the AG8 3rd eye, AG8, AA8 3rd eye, AA8-DuraMAX, AA8XE, and the new Fatal1ty AA8XE.
