ABIT Makes Step Back Towards NVIDIA’s Chipsets

ABIT, a maker of mainboards aimed at enthusiasts and gamers, unveiled its mainboard based on NVIDIA nForce3 chipset, a product that was under question after a dispute between ABIT and NVDIA Corp. earlier this year. The new product is expected to offer users sufficient performance and competitive price, says ABIT.

“The main reason [for the nForce3 delay] was the chipset revision. This motherboard has been in our roadmap [from quite some time], but we wanted to make sure that ABIT NF8 can pick up where NF7 left off as our best nForce2 mainboard. We will also be launching AN8, the nForce4 mainboard soon,” an ABIT spokesperson told X-bit labs.

ABIT’s NF8 mainboard is aimed at PGA754 processors, feature AGP 8x, PCI, Serial ATA, USB 2.0, IEEE1394 (FireWire), 6-channel audio, Gigabit Ethernet, NVIDIA FireWall and other important technologies to allow advanced computing with previous generation Socket 754 chips. For more advanced chips in PGA939 form-factor ABIT will offer different mainboards.

“The NF8 also includes exclusive ABIT technologies that simply aren’t found on other motherboards. Engineered for the PC enthusiast, the NF8 is built with extreme stability and performance in mind. The NF8 uses 100% Japanese capacitors for ultimate reliability. Also, the NF8’s layout is specifically designed to provide stable power output to CPU, DDR, AGP and PCI devices, ensuring that a system built upon the NF8 is rock-solid stable. To aid in keeping the system cool, ABIT includes OC Strips that help transfer heat away from the PCB and lower overall system temperatures. With quality components and superior design, users can count on ABIT Engineering to deliver a platform that is both powerful and stable,” ABIT said.

The company also ships its proprietary capabilities along with the new Socket 754 mainboard, such as SoftMenu, ABIT EQ, FlashMenu and so on to bring further advantages of the systems running ABIT NF8 mainboard. In addition, the platform is tested to comply to ABIT’s “BulletProof “standards, which are claimed to feature advanced durability.

ABIT’s new NF8 mainboard is expected to be enough affordable and become available shortly from press-time.
