While it's great to own a £350 top-of-the-line model, it doesn't mean it's the best solution to your needs. For a lot less money you can buy a versatile NAS that stores files, manages your back-ups and lets you share data over your own network and the internet.

Got a DS214+ , the software alone makes it stands heads and shoulder over the competition. Setting up different services (VPN, PhotoSharing, "Cloud" station, music streaming, video sharing, mobile device access, 2 step logon with google authenticator) is super easy and it just works!
then there are the 3rd party packages, run your own minecraft server, mysql server, php website, etc etc, endless possibilities
