Default 14.6 Million Netbooks Shipped in 2008

The newly emerged Netbook market that was actively created after Taiwan's ASUSTek shipped from 4Q, 2007 is differentiated from the traditional NotePC and gathering attention from many industry-related companies. The 2008 Netbook shipments result were at 14.6 million units which is a significant increase after being commercialized for a year. In 2009, a further growth is expected from 2008 that Netbook is expected to take up to 17.2% of overall NotePC market recording 26.3 million in shipments. Especially, Taiwan's Acer and ASUSTek recorded more than 70% market share in Netbook shipments of 2008 and the high market share from these two companies are expected to continue in 2009 at over 67%.
