xtreme solder job!

I found the chip that i fried on my dead 8rda+.

I dunno how i did it, but i succesfully replaced the broken one! 8 tiny little legs and they all seem to work. Hooray for madness! :super:

I think i broke the AGP port by frying the little bastard (killed my ti4200), but the PCI ports work fine. I did a quick Vdd mod (you'd think I'd learn out of my mistakes, no?) while my soldering iron was hot: 1.8vdd, should be gould enough for ~215mhz stable.

The bios had gone bad too, but i managed to flash it in my new 8rda+.

Currently stressing the board at 11*200. Joy! Joy! :feesten:

Together with a loud aircooler & my second XP1800+ JIUHB i have an excellent backup rig. A shame the AGP port may be dead... I've got a Matrox Millenium PCI card, but it doesn't support 1280*1024 @32bit (only 8bit)... what's the best PCI card one can get nowadays? GF4 MX440?

B|oweFish 8th March 2003 14:49

wow!

na thats

jmke 8th March 2003 14:50

go any more pics? those are compeletly  skillz

RichBa5tard 8th March 2003 14:57

skillz? Might just be luck in my case. :D

nice & messy setup (Q tec sil680 controller roxors!):

Does anyone know whether the Sapphire ATI 7000 32mb DDR PCI is a decent (pci) videocard? TV-out is important, and ATI has a good rep...

It's 'only' 60 eur @forcom.

piotke 8th March 2003 15:53

change sig Richy...

amazing job you did there

Erik701 8th March 2003 16:06

wow. great job dewd. Too bad the AGP port is broken.

RichBa5tard 8th March 2003 17:37

KS1@xtreme suggested to try an 8x AGP card, because it uses a different voltage than the 4x (r8500) i tried.

Guess what, it works. I'm one happy camper. :D

spoken about luck :super:

jASjE 8th March 2003 18:17

omG very well done! those legs are a lot smarter than those of your regular v-mod right?

respect!

RuB87 8th March 2003 19:18

piotke 8th March 2003 20:34

idd, twinmoss does 195 Mhz stable at most agressive tilming 2.92 Vddr. 197 fsb works also @ the same timings, but not 100% stable

Over 200 fsb is piece of cake, but only with relaxed timings.

RuB87 8th March 2003 20:45

snapte ?

RichBa5tard 8th March 2003 20:54

volgens pilsy@xtreme doen die latjes nochthans 220+ :s

They're running @ host clock:rolleyes:but it's weird that a nameless sticky pc2700 also 200 fsb did @ the same mobo @ weak timings... this sticky twinmoss also but if i tighten the timings i get bleuscreens while windows is loading...

Zo beter Jmke??

jmke 9th March 2003 00:38

please reply in the language the thread was started in :)

koensa 9th March 2003 10:23

i'll show the pics later on :)

ModdiN MansoN 9th March 2003 10:39

we want proof! ;)

cR00zIFI><3r 9th March 2003 17:06

Twinmoss uses 2 kinds of chips: M-tec (not tooo good) Winbond (good)
yours are probebly M-tec

btw, what is the highest vddr you may use with an 8RDA+??

BlackRabbit 9th March 2003 20:51

nice!

I've got a broken Epox 8KHA+ down here.. Want to make it your next victim? :D

TerAngreal 9th March 2003 21:53

Yoou haven't seen my soldering skillz yet. I'm going to borrow a digicam this afternoon, to get pics.

It's very nicely done, never seen some such precise. Secret will be revealed this afternoon.

ModdiN MansoN 10th March 2003 12:02

you can all come droole over my new case @ Mē, phear my 1337 wiring+soldering skillz ;p

http://users.pandora.be/manson/pcnew/ (work in progress)

jmke 10th March 2003 12:06

nicely done!
too bad you don't know much about compression & cropping :)

ModdiN MansoN 10th March 2003 12:16

dunno, doesn't boot..

I think there's something wrong with the memory controller or something.. (error code: "Cx" where x is usually 0 or 1)

Magnum_ 11th March 2003 14:27

talkin' about CS actually ;)
U'd be surprised what you need to run that at a decent & constant framerate ;)

Poitke, is dat lijm of gesoldeerd?

Indien gesoldeerd: koop u een 20W soldeerdbout, want je chip is blijkbaar half gesmolten van de hitte! :s

hehe, you found out, t'is geplakt met secondelijm, vandaar die precies gemolten waas. Dampen van secondelijm.

gemaviper 14th April 2003 20:30

Dude, where'd you find that chip you fried? Sadly, I also killed my heavily modded 8RDA+ by trying the 5v mod by hand-contacting a 5v line to the mosfet which killed a mosfet crippling my mobo. It still ran at stock vcore, but no higher. Thinking it couldve been the PSU, I tried another cheap 250w PSU and it fried my mobo. The little chip above the vdd controller chip fried. I thought I could do what you did - replace the chip but I had no clue where I would find it. Anyway, are you sure you killed your vidcard by frying the mobo?? What'd you do to fry your mobo? I had a GF4 4600 and 2x Mushkin pc3500 RAM in my mobo I hope to god I didnt damage them! :( The only noticable damage I could find is that little chip.
