well, someone else already did that.

some folks already spilled water on their hardware due to watercooling. placing the card in water and have it heated up for 20 seconds wouldn't be SO bad. after all the heat wouldn't damage anything, it's rather harmful to have a hot card when it's powered on.

ah well. first thing tomorrow: PC Dewilde. the memory of that guy is leak, I often buy something there and he's very friendly. he already RMA'ed a dead 1700+ that actually isn't covered by warranty I think.
next stop: GSI Informatix, dad's PC shop. they might arrange something

there a big difference between cold water spilling over hardware and then letting it dry for an extended period of time, and putting a piece of hardware in water and then boiling it..

no no; when the water was near boiling point I put the card in it for 20seconds

hmm, my bro' bought the card at telent bargains. I'll contact [HBV]-=XortioN=- now

"near boiling point" = near 100°C, is way too hot, even if it was for 1 second.

are you going to ask your money back from the card, after you boiled it in a frying pan?

that's the smoke of the boiling water. cleaned everything up and placed original cooler on it. no traces
