win vista ready boost

Hey guys

Just got to trying out win vistas ready boost program with my 1GB usb drive and it seems to make vista run a bit smoother, only thing is i hate that big all usb drive hangin out of there just ready to get whacked off. Does anyone know if you get use readyboost with an SD card rather then a USB drive? from what i understand all that flash type memory is essentially the same.

Also any suggestions on what size flash size/speed would be best to run readyboost?

wow thanks a bunch I haven't been keeping up with madshrimps articals lately. That one was really mind opening tho, I've noticed that the readyboost doesn't improve the speed of vista but i have noticed that some of the little lag outs that vista has when loading task icons on startup and opening of some programs has been decreased and have gone away completely. Which is nice for something that i only paid 20 bucks for about a year ago.

I'm running 2GB of DDR2 mem in my laptop now so i'm not expecting a huge performance increase but i do feel that vista has gotten alittle more zippy.

Maybe it's in my head but i think i'll get a 2GB high speed SD card for cheap somewhere and pop it in with ready boost.

thanks again for the article link, was just what i was lookin for

If you are using 2GB system mem, you don't really need ready-boost. Besides, any add on USB or SD will use more battery when you are unplugged.

ah ok thanks for the tip, just tried my sd card in this dell 8 in one reader and the thing sticks way out anyway, and it doesn't seem to lock in like with my nikon D50, just sorta slides in an out without clicking. So oh well
