Want some advice for a fileserver upgrade. I want to upgrade my urrent fileserver for gigabit LAN. But I'm not quite sure what to do. The way I see it, I got 3 options: - Intel CSA, an Asus P4C800-E Deluxe, or a TYAN, The tomcat i875p or more ordinairy trinity i875p. -64-bit PCI, probably a MSI KD7 Master. But I'll need extra IDE-SATA controllers, and I'll need to buy a GbE card. -Wait, for PCI-X. I don't want this system to be totally obsolete too soon. But PCI-X won't be going mainstream anytime soon I think. But I'm hurting, so this is really a worst case scenario. I'm currently leaning towards the P4 solution. Fast, good connectivity (that tomcat board has dual Gigabit LAN AND a 10/100), and nice HD capacity, 6-IDE and 4-SATA each. I still got a promise IDE card so I'll manage. I'd like some input, cause I can't figure it out. |
