| that software OC tool will only allow you FSB control at best, not monitor anything, Asus Probe does that

| i got curious how high i'd get if i upped the NB voltage, to see if i could break the blockade i found at +-400mhz 1:1 i found out that upping the voltage really didnt change anything... i did get a slightly better score when doing superpi @ 410mhz, but 410 isn't 3DMark-stable. 405mhz is, but 3DMark doesnt display scores atm. http://www.hwbot.org/result.do?resultId=573024 17.204s anyway, looks like i've hit the barrier with my mobo. both mem & cpu got room to spare. too bad. anyway, i'm still happy enough: this overclock (8x405mhz 1:1) runs at 1.05V ICH and 1.26/1.27 Vcore. all below spec. |

| Upping voltage doesn't improve really? MOdden my abit AB9 yesterday. Did 440 mhs stable on 1.45 Mch. at 1.6 I get 450 Mhz, at 1.7 I get 460 and goes up to 467 Mhz. 470 is windows stable. Higer voltage (2.1 ) doesn't help as well. Last attempt, watercoolnig with ice water.

| nope, not at all... and sorry that i forgot to list the MCH voltages. anyway, 1.55V is the standard MCH voltage. at anything above that (the mobo offers 1.65V, 1.75V and 1,85V or at least so it says), the mobo simply refuses to boot at anything above 410Mhz, throwing me into the overvoltage / too high overclock protection screen. as for the AB9 overclocking better, that's not surprise at all 965's are renouned for their FSB capabilities. anyway, i'm unsure where the problem lies, but i'm guessing it cant be helped by upping any voltages. i'm still happy though, as all components run low voltage and low temperature. hmz, i wonder if i can up the voltage on the ram to lower some timings, but i doubt if it's worthwhile... |
