| if you're going for simple FSB pumping, then yes, i965 usually gets higher overclocks. but if you're going for the features and a generally solid pc, i'd still go i975 since the prices are really close to eachother anyway overhere. for 175 euros you have a top i965 board, for 199 euros you have a top i975 board with loads of extra goodies. since i'm not going to pump the FSB for all it's got (the P5W DH should have more than enough headroom for what i'm planning), i'm more inclined to go for the extra goodies. |

| the parts from codima just arrived. can hardly wait til i get the other stuff... a few observations about the parts: Zalman CNPS 9700: omfg this bastard is huge... it dwarfs my XP120 (i think). if it performs half as mean as it looks, then we're in for quite a ride Antec TruePower Trio 550: damn it, that ****er is heavy... i'll curse it when going to a LAN i'm sure. Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 (2.13 Ghz): SL9S9 L663A812 stepping B2 Msi Radeon RX1950PRO: looks pretty decent. i hope the cooler doesnt make too much noise though. |

| be sure to use the fanmate2 to slow down the fanspeed of the CNPS9700CU and use atitool or ati tray tools to set the fan speed of the X1950Pro

| the fan goes straight on my uberlowtec but pwnage sunbeam rheo, no fanmate crap inbetween and i'll need to refamiliarise myself with ATItool. it's since my 9800pro that i've had an ati, but i'm guessing everything is pretty simple/logical like it was before. (edit: i'm pretty happy with the CNPS9700's base btw. it's very nicely polished & reflects like a mirror. no "mate" surface at all.) Last edited by SuAside : 29th December 2006 at 16:36. |
